Bury Metro Model Flying Club
Founded in 1976
Bury Metro Model Flying Club is 48 years old.
Situated on private farm land between Whittle Lane and Bow Lee Park, we are rightfully proud of our successful radio control model club
We have the exclusive use of a private flying field from 09:00am to dark, 7 days a week.
We provide a VERY well kept field and clubhouse for the operation of fixed wing, helicopter, drone (and anything in between) models with easy road access to a safe parking area close to the pits.
All is kept under the watchful eye of a solar powered CCTV camera as an added feature.
Our clubhouse features brew making, lighting and battery charging facilities.
We consider ourselves a little more helicopter friendly than most clubs and have a brace of exceptional, competition-winning RC pilots who are frequent flyers and more than willing to help and advise with heli, fixed-wing, glider and quad model setup and training.
Our newly elected chairman Mick Johnston, is a BMFA Certified Area Chief Examiner who can train and test members through their BMFA Achievement Scheme journey in any of these disciplines.
The area we fly in is fantastic for thermal activity, so gliders do very well at our site and are a growing part of the fun - plans are afoot to add a club owned Hi-Start bungee launch system and we are submitting a NOTAM to allow high altitude glider flights soon..

If you're new to the hobby and would like to find out more, nothing will beat bobbing down to the field and having a chat. We have instructors for all types of models and an ARMY of know-it-alls who are never too busy to help. Throughout the year
We feature Breakfast and BBQ fun fly days for the enjoyment of our club, other clubs and friends of our members. You will be made welcome, whether you're new to model flying, an experienced pilot or just been invited out for a fun day with us
Flying Activities
We meet on a regular basis- not only at weekends but often during the week in spring / summer /autumn time, for the after work 'Sunset Sesh' which brings new meaning to the word 'decompress'.. and our Breakfast Mornings/BBQ days are fast becoming legendary!
